Chapter 16

1 AND when David had passed a little beyond the place where he used to worship, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth came to meet him, with a couple of asses, laden with two hundred loaves of bread and a hundred bunches of raisins and a hundred cakes of figs and a skin of wine.

2 And the king said to Ziba, Where did you get these? Ziba said to him, The asses are to carry the burden of the king's household; and the bread and fig cakes are for the young men to eat, and the wine, that those who faint in the wilderness may drink.

3 And the king said to him, Where is your master's son? Ziba said to him, Behold he remains at Jerusalem; for he said, Today shall the house of Israel restore to me the kingdom of Saul my father.

4 Then David said to Ziba, Behold, all that belonged to Mephibosheth is given to you. And Ziba said to him, I have plenty, and I have found grace in your sight, my lord, O king.

5 And when King David came to Beth-hurim, behold, there came out from there a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera; he came forth and cursed David;

6 And he threw stones at him and at all his servants and at all his people and at all his servants who were on his right hand and on his left.

7 And thus said Shimei to David when he cursed him, Get out, get out, you bloody man, you wicked man;

8 The LORD has requited upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead you have reigned; and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son; and, behold, you have been requited for your evil, because you are a bloody man.

9 Then Abishai the son of Zoriah said to David, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and take off his head.

10 And King David said to him, What is it to me and to you, O sons of Zoriah? Let him curse, it is the LORD who has told him to curse David. Therefore who can say to me, Why has this happened?

11 And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, Behold, my own son, who came forth from my loins, seeks my life; so now let this Benjamite alone, let him curse; for God has bidden him.

12 It may be the LORD will look on my affliction and requite me good for his cursing this day.

13 And as David and his servants went on the way, Shimei walked along the mountain side opposite him and cursed him as he went and threw stones at him and cast dust at him.

14 And the king and all the people who were with him arrived at their destination weary, and they refreshed themselves there.

15 And Absalom and all the people who were with him and all Israel came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

16 And when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, came to Absalom, Hushai said to Absalom, Long live the king! long live the king!

17 And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this your kindness to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?

18 And Hushai said to Absalom. No; but whom the LORD and this people and all Israel have chosen, with him will I dwell, and his will I be.

19 And again, whom should I serve? I have no choice. As I have served in your father's presence, so will I serve before you.

20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, Give me counsel, as to what we shall do.

21 And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to your father's concubines, whom he has left to keep his house; and when all Israel shall hear that you have gone in to your father's concubines, then shall the hands of all who are with you be strengthened.

22 So they pitched a tent for Absalom upon the roof; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

23 And the counsel of Ahithophel which he gave in those days was as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God; so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

3 И сказал559 царь:4428 где сын1121 господина113 твоего? И отвечал559 Сива6717 царю:4428 вот, он остался3427 в Иерусалиме3389 и говорит:559 теперь-то дом1004 Израилев3478 возвратит7725 мне царство4468 отца1 моего.

4 И сказал559 царь4428 Сиве:6717 вот тебе все, что у Мемфивосфея.4648 И отвечал559 Сива,6717 поклонившись:7812 да обрету4672 милость2580 в глазах5869 господина113 моего царя!4428

5 Когда дошел935 царь4428 Давид1732 до Бахурима,980 вот вышел3318 оттуда человек376 из рода4940 дома1004 Саулова,7586 по имени8034 Семей,8096 сын1121 Геры;1617 он шел3318 и злословил,7043

6 и бросал5619 камнями68 на Давида1732 и на всех рабов5650 царя4428 Давида;1732 все же люди5971 и все храбрые1368 были по правую3225 и по левую8040 сторону царя.

7 Так говорил559 Семей,8096 злословя7043 его: уходи,3318 уходи,3318 убийца3761818 и беззаконник!3761100

8 Господь3068 обратил7725 на тебя всю кровь1818 дома1004 Саулова,7586 вместо которого ты воцарился,4427 и предал5414 Господь3068 царство4410 в руки3027 Авессалома,53 сына1121 твоего; и вот, ты в беде,7451 ибо ты — кровопийца.3761818

9 И сказал559 Авесса,52 сын1121 Саруин,6870 царю:4428 зачем злословит7043 этот мертвый4191 пес3611 господина113 моего царя?4428 пойду5674 я и сниму5493 с него голову.7218

10 И сказал559 царь:4428 что мне и вам, сыны1121 Саруины?6870 пусть он злословит,7043 ибо Господь3068 повелел559 ему злословить7043 Давида.1732 Кто же может сказать:559 зачем ты так делаешь?6213

11 И сказал559 Давид1732 Авессе52 и всем слугам5650 своим: вот, если мой сын,1121 который вышел3318 из чресл4578 моих, ищет1245 души5315 моей, тем больше сын Вениамитянина;1145 оставьте3240 его, пусть злословит,7043 ибо Господь3068 повелел559 ему;

12 может быть, Господь3068 призрит7200 на уничижение58696040 мое, и воздаст7725 мне Господь3068 благостью2896 за теперешнее его злословие.7045

13 И шел3212 Давид1732 и люди582 его своим путем,1870 а Семей8096 шел1980 по окраине6763 горы,2022 со стороны5980 его, шел1980 и злословил,7043 и бросал5619 камнями68 на сторону5980 его и пылью.6083

14 И пришел935 царь4428 и весь народ,5971 бывший с ним, утомленный,5889 и отдыхал5314 там.

15 Авессалом53 же и весь народ5971 Израильский3763478 пришли935 в Иерусалим,3389 и Ахитофел302 с ним.

16 Когда Хусий2365 Архитянин,757 друг7463 Давидов,1732 пришел935 к Авессалому,53 то сказал559 Хусий2365 Авессалому:53 да живет2421 царь,4428 да живет2421 царь!4428

17 И сказал559 Авессалом53 Хусию:2365 таково-то усердие2617 твое к твоему другу!7453 отчего ты не пошел1980 с другом7453 твоим?

18 И сказал559 Хусий2365 Авессалому:53 нет, кого избрал977 Господь3068 и этот народ5971 и весь Израиль,3763478 с тем и я, и с ним останусь.3427

19 И притом8145 кому я буду5647 служить?5647 Не сыну1121 ли его? Как служил5647 я отцу1 твоему, так буду служить и тебе.

20 И сказал559 Авессалом53 Ахитофелу:302 дайте3051 совет,6098 что нам делать.6213

21 И сказал559 Ахитофел302 Авессалому:53 войди935 к наложницам6370 отца1 твоего, которых он оставил3240 охранять8104 дом1004 свой; и услышат8085 все Израильтяне,3478 что ты сделался887 ненавистным887 для отца1 твоего, и укрепятся2388 руки3027 всех, которые с тобою.

22 И поставили5186 для Авессалома53 палатку168 на кровле,1406 и вошел935 Авессалом53 к наложницам6370 отца1 своего пред глазами5869 всего Израиля.3478

23 Советы6098 же Ахитофела,302 которые он давал,3289 в то время3117 считались, как если бы кто спрашивал7592 наставления1697 у Бога.430 Таков был всякий совет6098 Ахитофела302 как для Давида,1732 так и для Авессалома.53

3 And the king said to him, Where is your master's son? Ziba said to him, Behold he remains at Jerusalem; for he said, Today shall the house of Israel restore to me the kingdom of Saul my father.

4 Then David said to Ziba, Behold, all that belonged to Mephibosheth is given to you. And Ziba said to him, I have plenty, and I have found grace in your sight, my lord, O king.

6 And he threw stones at him and at all his servants and at all his people and at all his servants who were on his right hand and on his left.

7 And thus said Shimei to David when he cursed him, Get out, get out, you bloody man, you wicked man;

7 Так говорил559 Семей,8096 злословя7043 его: уходи,3318 уходи,3318 убийца3761818 и беззаконник!3761100

9 Then Abishai the son of Zoriah said to David, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and take off his head.

10 And King David said to him, What is it to me and to you, O sons of Zoriah? Let him curse, it is the LORD who has told him to curse David. Therefore who can say to me, Why has this happened?

15 And Absalom and all the people who were with him and all Israel came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

16 And when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, came to Absalom, Hushai said to Absalom, Long live the king! long live the king!

16 Когда Хусий2365 Архитянин,757 друг7463 Давидов,1732 пришел935 к Авессалому,53 то сказал559 Хусий2365 Авессалому:53 да живет2421 царь,4428 да живет2421 царь!4428

17 And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this your kindness to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?

17 И сказал559 Авессалом53 Хусию:2365 таково-то усердие2617 твое к твоему другу!7453 отчего ты не пошел1980 с другом7453 твоим?

18 And Hushai said to Absalom. No; but whom the LORD and this people and all Israel have chosen, with him will I dwell, and his will I be.

18 И сказал559 Хусий2365 Авессалому:53 нет, кого избрал977 Господь3068 и этот народ5971 и весь Израиль,3763478 с тем и я, и с ним останусь.3427

21 And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to your father's concubines, whom he has left to keep his house; and when all Israel shall hear that you have gone in to your father's concubines, then shall the hands of all who are with you be strengthened.

22 So they pitched a tent for Absalom upon the roof; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

23 And the counsel of Ahithophel which he gave in those days was as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God; so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
